We
were glad we had been able to place Chex so quickly because it opened
up a foster home for little Katie.
Katie had been at the shelter for three months and was in really
bad shape. Her coat was so matted that she could hardly walk. She
had chronic ear and eye infections, breast tumors and a mouth full
of rotting teeth.
So, we brought her home and started an intensive program of care
to make her well. First stop was THE GROOMING STUDIO for a free haircut,
and a trip to the vet for medications, and an appointment to be spayed
and have the breast tumors removed.
By the time she underwent surgery, both her eye and ear infections
were on the mend, and her bad teeth had been removed. As soon as she
started to feel better, Katie became a real character .... very affectionate
but quite able to hold her own with the other pets in her foster home!
It was October before she was well enough to be placed in a permanent
home, and we found the perfect couple to continue her care.
Katie only lived another year, but the quality of care and the love
she received during that period, was undoubtedly more than she had
during the preceeding eight years.
