Checkers (Chex) was already at the shelter when we brought
Elvis home. He was still there 6 weeks later. He had also been there
for two months and had been placed on the danger list. He seemed very
hyperactive (but who wouldn’t after being locked up for two months!),
and we were very apprehensive about taking him home to a family setting
with other dogs, a cat and a teenager!
For the first couple of days he peed and pooped everywhere, but then
he got the hang of house training. Within a week he was displaying his
true colors - 70bl of marshmallow.
After a short period of assessment, he was placed with his new family
in Verona, where he has become a playmate for the family boxer “Baz”.
His new owners keep in touch, and tell us that Chex is a very well behaved
dog who has completed his basic obedience training and is due to graduate
from the advanced class soon.
